2 cups (240g) powdered sugar
1 large egg white (or 2 tbsp meringue powder + 2 tbsp water)
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Food coloring (optional)
Other:
Powdered sugar (for snow effect)
Edible pearls or sprinkles (for decoration)
Clear plastic or gelatin dome (from ornament halves or DIY gelatin sheets)
Round cookie bases (about 4–5 inches in diameter)
Small gingerbread trees and houses (cookie cutters or hand-cut)
Melted white chocolate or thick royal icing (as edible “glue”)
👩🍳 Instructions:
1. Make the Gingerbread Dough:
In a large bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar until fluffy.
Add the egg and molasses; mix well.
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and spices. Gradually add to the wet ingredients until a dough forms.
Divide, wrap in plastic, and chill for at least 1 hour.
2. Cut and Bake:
Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thick.
Cut out base circles, small house shapes, trees, and stars.
Place on parchment-lined baking sheets and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 8–10 minutes. Cool completely.
3. Decorate the Cookies:
Prepare royal icing and color as desired.
Pipe details onto houses and trees using a fine tip.
Let decorated cookies dry completely (at least 2 hours or overnight).
4. Assemble the Scene:
Place royal icing or melted white chocolate on the cookie base.
Attach houses and trees upright using icing as glue. Add tiny paths or stars.
Dust with powdered sugar to mimic snow.
Carefully place the dome over the scene and secure (if needed).
🌟 Tips:
Use edible glitter or gold leaf for an extra festive touch.
Make multiple scenes with varying designs and sizes.
For a longer-lasting decoration, use dried royal icing and store in a cool, dry place.
