Homemade Hot Chocolate

Warm up with this rich and creamy homemade hot chocolate, or chocolat chaud maison as the French say. Made with real chocolate, milk, and just the right amount of sweetness, this comforting drink is perfect for chilly days or cozy evenings at home. It’s easy to prepare and tastes far better than any store-bought mix!
Ingredients:
(Serves 2)
2 cups (500 ml) whole milk
100 g dark chocolate (60-70% cocoa), chopped
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tbsp sugar (adjust to taste)
1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
A pinch of salt
Whipped cream or marshmallows (optional, for serving)
Instructions:
Heat the milk: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, warm the milk until it begins to steam, but don’t let it boil.
Add chocolate & cocoa: Lower the heat and add the chopped chocolate, cocoa powder, and sugar. Whisk continuously until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth and creamy.
Flavor: Stir in the vanilla extract and a small pinch of salt to enhance the chocolate flavor.
Serve: Pour the hot chocolate into mugs and top with whipped cream or marshmallows if desired. Serve immediately while hot.
